Engine Management Light Repair Surrey
If the engine management light doesn’t come on when you switch the ignition on, the car fails its MOT — the tester has to see it light up and go out again. Dash Wizard repairs the cause inside the instrument cluster at your address: failed warning-lamp LEDs, cluster board faults and lamps that have been deliberately disabled.
The MOT inspection manual records it as ‘Engine MIL inoperative or indicating a malfunction’ — a Major defect under 8.2.1.2 (h) for petrol and hybrid cars first used from 1 July 2003, and 8.2.2.2 (g) for diesels first used from 1 July 2008. A lamp that never lights fails in exactly the same way as one that stays on.
Most garages can read fault codes but can’t repair the cluster itself. That is our side of the job: we find out why the lamp is dead, repair the cluster’s LED or circuit board, refit it and prove the bulb check — ignition on, lamp on; engine running, lamp off.
We restore warning lamps; we never disable them. If the light was switched off to hide a fault, that fault will show once the lamp works again — and we can diagnose it on the same visit with dealer-level equipment, so you know exactly what the car needs before the retest.
